IREPS (Indian Railways E-Procurement System)

Indian Railways zones, production units and railway PSUs buy goods/stores, works and services through e-tenders and sell scrap or lease assets through e-auctions on a CRIS-developed platform that is not NIC GePNIC-based.

How to register

1Get a signing DSC from a CCA-licensed CA (Class 3 USB token), install Java (JRE), IREPS Signer 1.5/1.5.1 and Adobe Reader 8 or above.
2On ireps.gov.in open Sign Up > New Vendors/Contractors (E-Tender), read the instructions, insert the token and click Proceed.
3In the Web Signer window click your firm's DSC and Select; the account is tied to that certificate name.
4Fill the Basic Details tab (entity type, directors/partners, PAN, GSTIN or exemption, CIN/registration) and Save as Draft.
5Upload each mandatory supporting document, signing it in the Web Signer; a wrong document leads to rejection.
6Submit the request; approval normally takes 3-4 working days. Track it with the request ID and answer railway queries using the DSC.
7The password arrives by email; if not, use Reset Password using DSC. Registration is free of charge.

Fees and EMD

Registration of new vendors and contractors is free of charge. Earnest money and tender document costs are paid online through SBI (net banking or SBIePay) as specified in each tender, and e-auction EMD uses a virtual account mechanism described in the portal's user guide.

Digital signature

A signing DSC from a CCA-licensed CA on a USB token (Class 3 in practice, since that is what CAs issue and railway tenders demand), used through the Java-based Web Signer / IREPS Signer; the account name follows the DSC name and a replacement DSC must carry the same client name.

Things that catch bidders out

IREPS Signer 1.5/1.5.1, Java JRE and Adobe Reader 8+ are required; the error Failed to Open Web Signer means Java is missing or corrupt, and you must click Allow on the access-other-apps popup.
A new DSC must have the same client name as the user account; changing the DSC is a helpdesk request, not a self-service action.
Uploading a wrong document rejects the whole registration request, and railway queries on the request must be answered with the DSC.
e-Dispatch Note generation is mandatory for Stores (iMMS PO) materials received on or after 09.11.2026, and only UVAM-approved vendors are valid for the listed units since 01.04.2022.
Payment problems are handled by SBI, not IREPS: SBI net banking 022-27566066/67 and SBIePay 022-27523618 (24x7).

Verified against the portal's own help pages on 2026-10-22. Portals change rules without notice; the NIT always prevails. The official manual only says DSC from a CCA-licensed CA; Class 3 comes from railway tender documents and DSC vendor guides. Discontinuation of Internet Explorer support (July 2024) and the helpdesk email helpdesk.eps@cris.org.in are reported by third parties and were not seen on the portal.
